Application
It is used in the making of germanium and is also used in the electronics industry. It is used as a semiconductor material. It is prepared by heating and oxidation of germanium . It is used as a raw material for the preparation of germanium metal and other germanium compounds, a catalyst for the preparation of polyethylene terephthalate resins, and a spectroscopic analysis and semiconductor material. It can be used to manufacture optical glass phosphors, which can be used as a catalyst for conversion in petroleum refining, dehydrogenation, color film and polyester fiber production. Not only that, germanium dioxide is also a catalyst for polymerization reaction, glass containing germanium dioxide has a high refractive index and dispersion performance, can be used as a wide-angle camera and microscope lens, with the development of technology, germanium dioxide is widely used in the production of high-purity metal germanium, germanium compounds, chemical catalysts and pharmaceutical industry, PET resin, electronic devices, etc., it should be noted that although the form of germanium dioxide is similar to organic germanium (Ge-132), it is toxic and can not be taken.

Germanium does not work with carbon, so it melts in a graphite crucible and is not contaminated with carbon. Germanium has good semiconductor properties, such as electron mobility, hole mobility, and so on
