White odorless amorphous powder with a density of 7.407g/cm3 (monoclinic 8.297g/cm3) and a melting point of 2330±20 °C (some data say 2420 °C). Insoluble in water, soluble in acid to form the corresponding gadolinium salt. When exposed to the air, it is easy to absorb water and carbon dioxide in the air and deteriorate.
