Application

production capacity.
Niobium oxide is used in a wide range of applications, but different uses and customers have different requirements and standards. Metallurgical industry
The metallurgical industry has always been the largest consumer of Nb2O5, accounting for about 85%~90% of the total niobium consumption. This mainly includes steel additives, superalloys, superconducting alloys and special niobium metal materials. Before the 80s of the 20th century, the main sales direction of niobium oxide in China was the metallurgical industry, so the main physical and chemical indicators of the national standard GB 3627 -83 were formulated based on this industry. As an additive for steel modification, the quality standard can reach the third level of GB 3627 -83; Nb2O5 used in the superalloy and material industry has relatively high requirements for chemical impurities, and some material alloys have special requirements for high-temperature metal elements such as W, Mo, Ta, Ti, etc.; There are also some customers who have requirements for loose packing density and want to have a higher loose density.
Electronics industry
The application of Nb2O5 in the electronics industry has developed rapidly in recent years, and although the total use is small, its growth rate is greater than that of other industries. The Nb2O5 used in multilayer capacitors accounts for a large share of the industry's consumption, which is due to the addition of Nb2O5, which greatly improves the thermal stability of multilayer capacitors and obtains a more stable high dielectric constant. In addition, Nb2O5 is also widely used in electronic materials such as piezoelectric ceramics, thermal ceramics, electrothermal ceramics, electromagnets, optical waveguides, and electronic crystals. Although the total consumption of this area is not very large, it is developing rapidly and has considerable prospects. Due to the particularity of ceramic materials, it has high requirements for the physical properties of Nb2O5 such as particle size, particle size distribution, and specific surface area. Optical waveguides and electronic crystal materials are also an important application field of Nb2O5, which requires high-purity Nb2O5 and has a very broad prospect.
Glass industry
The glass industry is a traditional application industry of Nb2O5, because Nb2O5 is added to glass, so that it has a high refractive index (Ta2O5 can be added to glass to improve the refractive index, but because the price is too high, it can only be used in places with particularly high requirements), so it is widely used in optical glass, optical fibers, and coating materials.
