Polylactic acid, also known as polylactide, belongs to the polyester family. Polylactic acid is a polymer obtained by polymerizing lactic acid as a main raw material. The raw material source is sufficient and can be regenerated, and corn, cassava and the like are mainly used as raw materials. The production process of polylactic acid is non-polluting, and the product can be biodegraded to achieve circulation in nature, so it is an ideal green polymer material.

As a biodegradable material, polylactic acid has the characteristics of environmental protection, non toxicity and degradability. It is the biodegradable material with the largest output, the widest application range, the highest cost performance and the closest to petroleum based polyester in the international market. Polylactic acid can be processed into films, sheets, staple fibers and filaments by injection molding and blistering. There is a large-scale demand in the fields of plastic industry, packaging industry, manufacturing industry and pharmaceutical industry. Polylactic acid is considered as the main material to replace petroleum based plastics (PE, PP, PVC, etc.) and petroleum based chemical fibers (PET, PTT, PBT, etc.) in the future.
(1) Green fiber made of polylactic acid can replace Petrochemical Fiber and be used in underwear, sports and leisure clothing, carpets, curtains, bedding, etc.
(2) Through extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and other processes, polylactic acid can be made into green plastics to replace petroleum plastics, such as household plastics (cups, plates, boxes, bottles, etc.), industrial plastics (car, ship, aircraft interior and parts, home appliance shell, etc.), film plastics (food packaging film bag, plastic bag, agricultural film, two-way tensile film, etc.), medical materials (surgical line, bone nail, etc.), 3D printing, etc;
(3) Polylactic acid polyols can be used to produce biological polyurethane, which can be used in many fields such as artificial leather, oil film, hard foam, soft foam and so on;
(4) The wood plastic materials produced by polylactic acid as adhesive do not contain bisphenol A and formaldehyde (urea formaldehyde resin and phenolic resin). They are widely used in indoor and outdoor decoration, furniture manufacturing, office furniture, etc.
