It is off-white or dark gray particles with a specific gravity of 1.619. It is easily soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol. It has a certain degree of hygroscopicity and is easily decomposed in moist air, volatile becomes ammonium dihydrogen phosphate. The aqueous solution is weakly alkaline with pH 8.0.
