Ferrous sulfate (alum) molecular formula FeSO4•7H2O An inorganic compound, anhydrous ferrous sulfate is a white powder, soluble in water, the aqueous solution is light green, commonly found in its heptahydrate (green alum).
Application
1. Water treatment
Ferrous sulfate is used for flocculation purification of water, as well as to remove phosphate from municipal and industrial sewage to prevent eutrophication of water bodies.
2. Reducing agent
A large amount of ferrous sulfate is used as a reducing agent, mainly reducing chromate in cement.
3. Agriculture
Adjust the soil pH, promote the formation of chlorophyll (also known as iron fertilizer), can prevent the yellowing disease caused by iron deficiency in flowers and trees. It is an indispensable element of acid-loving flowers and trees, especially iron trees. It can also be used as a pesticide in agriculture to prevent wheat smut disease, apple and pear scar scab disease, and fruit tree rot disease; It can also be used as fertilizer to remove moss and lichen from the trunk.
